Getting to Closure

For storage to be effective, CO₂ must be retained in the subsurface for long time periods. Documenting such storage permanence is sometimes conceptualized as the final phase of a project; however, project success is based on building towards this objective over the life of the project.  Attaining storage permanence is principally achieved via careful site selection and matching of source output to a well-engineered injection strategy and documented by a well-designed monitoring strategy that starts even before injection.
